Lisa Santoro is a licensed and nationally certified massage therapist who has been in practice for 13 years. She began her journey into the healing profession at the Muscular Therapy Institute (now Cortiva-Boston) where she graduated in 1995.
Lisa founded the massage program at Harvard University. As a longtime employee, she saw the opportunity at Harvard's Health Services to add massage to their growing wellness program. What started with just her one night a week quickly grew to many practitioners offering sessions every night of the week. Lisa's interest in working with people suffering from repetitive strain injuries (such as carpal tunnel syndrome) grew from her early work as a secretary and her understanding of how taxing computer and desk work can be on the body. She continued to study and work with hand, arm and elbow issues. She had great success treating classical and rock drummers for shoulder and hand injuries.
As her practice at Harvard grew, Lisa became an instructor at Cortiva Boston where she currently teaches professional development and hands-on classes in their basic program. Lisa also teaches continuing education for massage therapists nationally on various subjects. While seeing great success with deep tissue work, Lisa became interested in energetic modalities and became a Reiki Master. Mixing deep and energetic work has had a profound effect on people healing traumatic injuries. Lisa became interested in working with people with cancer early on and she has specific training in oncology massage. She is certified in lymphatic drainage and lymphedema management.
When she is not teaching, doing hands-on practice or studying about massage, Lisa is a beaded jewelry artist and avid knitter.
