Developed and refined by Dr. Tinus Smits in the Netherlands for children/adults with autism spectrum disorders, CEASE uses classical constitutional and universal layer homeopathic remedies (Smits’ Inspiring Homeopathy) to boost the child’s overall constitution. Isopathic detoxification remedies are used to reverse suspected residual effects of toxins (e.g., from diseases, vaccines, medications, environmental chemical exposure, etc) to assist in rebuilding the child’s health. Dr. Smits treated over 300 children with autism spectrum disorders using the CEASE approach, returning many of them to complete or greatly improved health (http://www.cease-therapy.com).
The homeopathic and isopathic detoxification approach used in CEASE can be adapted for use in children or adults with many other kinds of chronic disorders, such as food sensitivities/allergies/eczema, ADHD/ADD, learning disabilities, anxiety disorder, conduct disorder, depression, diabetes, arthritis, Lyme Disease, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and pain syndromes, particularly if the client (or their parents) suspect poor reactions to medications, vaccinations, or potential environmental toxins that might be involved in causing or exacerbating their less than optimal state of health.
In any CEASE or other similar case involving homeopathic detoxification, the choice of remedies and mode of administration is individualized to the client, whether he or she is a young infant, a child, a teen, an adult, or an elderly person. The remedies used are gentle and the doses are infinitesimally small, so they themselves do not have toxic effects. During the rebuilding of health, occasional periods of so-called ‘healing reactions’ can occur, when some old symptoms may arise or some present symptoms may increase. These exacerbations, if they occur, are usually transitory. Adapting the remedy dosage, mode of administration, and sometimes choice of remedies generally allows quick and simple resolution of these transient symptoms during healing reactions.
