WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Psychology relies on the interpersonal relationship between the therapist and client. Talking, listening, empathy and compassion are the tools that are used to understand the client and the unconscious content of their psyche. The goal is to help the patient find clarity, reduce stress, develop strategies for change, and to promote a greater state of self-acceptance. The field has expanded tremendously over the past century and has incorporated many of the newer schools of thought including humanistic, feminist, positive, relational and ego-psychology. Psychotherapy is beneficial for individuals, couples, groups and organizations.
