WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Psychology relies on the interpersonal relationship between the therapist and client. Talking, listening, empathy and compassion are the tools that are used to understand the client and the unconscious content of their psyche. The goal is to help the patient find clarity, reduce stress, develop strategies for change, and to promote a greater state of self-acceptance. The field has expanded tremendously over the past century and has incorporated many of the newer schools of thought including humanistic, feminist, positive, relational and ego-psychology. Psychotherapy is beneficial for individuals, couples, groups and organizations.
WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
The skillful use of Hypnosis can be a powerful addition to a good psychotherapy or can be used on it's own for many psychological and medical conditions. Hypnosis is a natural altered state of consciousness. A hypnotic state is subtly different than a person's 'normal' state and is often accompanied by a deep sense of relaxation of body and mind. Hypnosis allows the unconscious mind to be readily more accessible and receptive to suggestion.
WHO BENEFITS?
Psychotherapy is good for most people and most problems. In the hands of a skillful Psychotherapist, it enhances self-esteem, connection with others and compassion. It can help people identify blocks and bring renewed energy and joy into their lives. Hypnosis is a useful way to deal with anxiety, depression, panic and phobias, smoking, drinking, sleep disorders, and many other conditions. In the case of anxiety or depression, studies report that therapy alone or in combination with medication work far better than medication alone.
HOW IS DR. SASS'S PRACTICE DIFFERENT?
An experienced Psychologist, Sharon uses her clinical expertise and intuition along with a combination of spiritual and scientific modalities to help the client heal. The synergy of her methods are particularly useful when the difficult experiences and traumas of life remain in the mind and body causing repeated patterns of dysfunction. Dr. Sass works to identify and clear these patterns and old beliefs and allow the Psyche to breath and regain it's balance.
